In a gruesome incident, the body of a woman, with her legs tied to her neck and stuffed inside a sack, was found dumped in a municipal garbage truck in Bengaluru on Sunday. The police have arrested her live-in partner in connection with the murder.

The accused, identified as Shamsuddin from Assam, was apprehended within 20 hours of the crime coming to light.

The horrific discovery was made near the Channammanakere Skating Ground in South Bengaluru, under the jurisdiction of the Chennammanakere Achukattu Police Station. A local resident who had gone to dispose of waste noticed the suspicious sack in the garbage truck and alerted the authorities in the early hours of Sunday.

Police identified the victim as Asha, who had been in a live-in relationship with the accused for the past two years. According to the preliminary investigation, frequent and escalating quarrels between the couple were the motive for the crime. One such argument reportedly led to Shamsuddin strangling Asha to death.

Investigators said that after committing the murder, Shamsuddin tied up Asha’s body, stuffed it into a sack, and transported it on his motorcycle. He then dumped the sack in the garbage truck sometime between Saturday night and early Sunday before fleeing the scene. CCTV footage from the area was instrumental in tracing the accused and piecing together the sequence of events.

According to police, Asha was a widow with two children. Shamsuddin was also married with two children of his own back in Assam and had been living with Asha in the Hulimavu area of Bengaluru. The couple had reportedly met while working together at a private company.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the city, coming just weeks after another high-profile murder where a 33-year-old mother of two was allegedly stabbed to death by a techie she was having an affair with. A case of murder has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
