Bomb Scare in Bengaluru: Explosives Found at Busy Kalasipalya Bus Stand

A potential tragedy was averted in Bengaluru on Wednesday after a bag containing six gelatin sticks and several detonators was found at the bustling Kalasipalya BMTC bus stand. The discovery triggered a bomb scare, leading to an immediate and large-scale response from local police and the bomb disposal squad.
The suspicious carry bag was first spotted by locals outside a public toilet at the bus stand, who promptly alerted the authorities. Police teams rushed to the scene, cordoned off the entire area, and evacuated commuters as a precautionary measure. Traffic movement around the major transit hub was also temporarily disrupted.
A senior police officer at the scene confirmed the contents of the abandoned bag. The explosive materials have since been secured and sent for forensic examination. “The investigation is underway to determine the origin and intent behind placing the explosive materials here. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being reviewed,” the officer stated. No injuries or damage have been reported.
Gelatin sticks are a type of low-cost explosive commonly used for industrial purposes such as mining and construction, but they require a detonator to be set off. However, their availability has made them a material of concern, sometimes used for criminal activities.
Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and are investigating all angles, including potential terror threats or local disputes. The incident comes amid heightened security alerts in major cities and follows other recent security events in Bengaluru, including a low-intensity blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe.
