IAF Officer Faces Charges of Attempted Murder As CCTV Footage Reveals Air Force Officer Assaulted Biker
A fresh twist has emerged in the Bengaluru road rage case as CCTV footage reveals that IAF Wing Commander Aditya Bose assaulted a biker, contrary to earlier claims of being attacked.
Newly accessed CCTV footage from the Baiyappanahalli area has contradicted the original narrative put forth by Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Wing Commander Aditya Bose. The video shows Bose initiating physical violence against a man wearing a neon green jacket, despite previously alleging that he and his wife were victims of an unprovoked attack.
In the video, Bose can be seen pushing the man to the ground, kicking him, and continuing the assault while bystanders attempted to intervene. His wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, is seen verbally confronting the man and joining in the altercation.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Bose following a formal complaint by the bike rider, Vikas, to the police. The FIR was lodged under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 304 (snatching), 324 (mischief), and 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Earlier, Bose posted two videos on social media in which he claimed that a biker abused him in Kannada, attacked him with a key, and accused him of being from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) after seeing a sticker on his car. He alleged the situation escalated with others joining in, and one individual hitting him with a stone.
Due to a flight to Kolkata, Bose did not file a police complaint. However, Madhumita later registered an FIR at Baiyappanahalli Police Station, leading to the biker’s arrest.
Bengaluru East DCP Devaraj D confirmed that both parties were involved in the confrontation and said the incident could have been avoided. “We have checked the CCTV footage, and it’s evident that the incident could have been avoided by both sides. It is a clear case of road rage. We have lodged a complaint and arrested the biker,” he said
Another CCTV angle showed Bose grabbing the biker in a chokehold, dragging the fight onto the street. Madhumita, seen in a blue t-shirt, repeatedly confronts the biker alongside her husband.
The altercation took place early morning when Bose and Madhumita were en route to the airport. According to Madhumita’s complaint, the biker rode rashly, hit their car, and allegedly made derogatory comments about their affiliation with DRDO.
This sparked a political and social debate after Bose’s video went viral, with many condemning the attack on defence personnel. However, the emergence of CCTV footage has turned public attention toward the possibility of mutual aggression and the need for a balanced investigation.
Authorities are now reviewing the newly surfaced footage to determine whether charges should also be filed against Wing Commander Bose. Legal experts note that assault, regardless of provocation, is a punishable offence under Indian law.
