Ex-Karnataka DGP’s Wife Googled “Neck Vein Death” Days Before Murder, Say Sources

Pallavi, wife of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash, reportedly searched how neck vein cuts lead to death days before he was fatally stabbed at their Bengaluru home.

In a chilling revelation, investigators have found that Pallavi, wife of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash, conducted online searches on how a person dies when the veins in the neck are severed — just days before her husband was found murdered.

Om Prakash, a retired top cop, was discovered with multiple stab wounds at their residence in Bengaluru’s RT Nagar on Sunday evening. Pallavi, who is the prime accused, was taken into custody along with their daughter Kriti shortly after.

While Pallavi has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody, their daughter has been admitted to NIMHANS for psychiatric assessment. Sources close to the investigation say the daughter’s role is still under examination, though she has not yet been formally charged.

According to sources, during the police inquest at the crime scene on Monday evening, Pallavi responded to investigators’ queries with a cryptic “domestic violence” remark. Prior to the murder, she had posted messages in WhatsApp groups alleging that she was held hostage in her home and constantly surveilled by her husband.

She also alleged repeated poisoning and expressed fear for her daughter’s safety in those messages.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has transferred the high-profile murder case to the Central Crime Branch (CCB), which will officially begin its investigation today.

A senior officer said, “Given the sensitivity and profile of the case, it was felt necessary to hand it over to CCB for an in-depth and impartial probe.”

Om Prakash, who retired as Director General of Police, had a long career in Karnataka’s law enforcement. His sudden and violent death has stunned the police community and raised serious concerns about the underlying family dynamics.

Investigators are now combing through digital evidence, including phones and laptops, to track Pallavi’s online activity and WhatsApp communication in the lead-up to the murder.

The CCB will now interrogate Pallavi and examine whether any external influence or mental health issues may have contributed to the crime. Police are also awaiting forensic reports and digital evidence to corroborate Pallavi’s claims and timeline.
