IAF Officer Assaulted in Alleged Road Rage in Bengaluru, Wife Verbally Abused

In a disturbing case of alleged road rage in Bengaluru, an Indian Air Force officer was physically assaulted and his wife verbally abused after their car was stopped by a biker near CV Raman Nagar on April 18.

Wing Commander Aditya Bose, posted at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), claimed he was assaulted and injured by a biker while en route to the airport with his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita. The couple was traveling from the DRDO colony in CV Raman Nagar early Friday morning when the confrontation took place.

In a video posted to Instagram shortly after the incident, Bose alleged that the biker became aggressive after noticing the DRDO sticker on their vehicle. “A bike came from behind and stopped our car. The guy started abusing me in Kannada… When they saw the DRDO sticker on my car, they said, ‘You DRDO people’ and abused my wife too,” Bose stated, his face visibly bloodied in the footage.

According to Bose, when he stepped out of the car to defuse the situation, the biker struck him on the forehead with a key, causing bleeding. The attack escalated when additional bystanders reportedly joined in, with one individual allegedly picking up a stone to strike him again.

“After the initial hit, he broke the car window and hit me with a stone. Some locals sided with the attacker. He even bit my finger during the scuffle,” Bose said in a follow-up video posted later that day, where he appeared with a bandaged head.

The officer further stated that he was scheduled to fly to Kolkata to admit his ailing father to a hospital for surgery, but the attack forced a change in plans. He also reported losing his phone and car keys during the incident.

Following the assault, Bose said his wife managed to drive them to the nearest police station. However, the couple was reportedly disappointed with the initial response from the local authorities. “There was no proper action. I am shocked to see the ground reality in Karnataka,” Bose said, visibly emotional in the video.

Despite being visibly shaken, he urged restraint but warned that continued inaction could compel him to act. “God give me the power not to retaliate. Tomorrow, if law and order don’t help us, I will retaliate,” he said.

Bengaluru police have taken note of the incident and stated that they are verifying the claims made by the officer. “An unfortunate incident of suspected road rage has come to light. The situation is being addressed,” police sources confirmed, adding that attempts were being made to reach the victim for further investigation.

The Indian Air Force also responded, assuring full support to the officer. “The officer was treated in a hospital for his injuries. IAF is extending full support to the officer and civil authorities for lawful resolution of the matter,” IAF sources said.

The incident comes amid a growing number of road rage reports in Indian metros. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), major cities including Bengaluru have seen an uptick in violent traffic altercations in recent years, prompting concerns over public safety and policing.

As the video continues to draw attention on social media, local authorities have promised a thorough investigation. No arrests have been reported yet, and the identity of the biker remains unknown at the time of publication. Meanwhile, the IAF officer and his wife are recuperating and seeking justice through official channels.
