Unidentified Girl’s Body Found in Suitcase Near Bengaluru Railway Bridge, Probe Underway

In a chilling discovery, the body of an unidentified girl, estimated to be around 18 years old, was found stuffed inside a suitcase near railway tracks close to the old Chandapura railway bridge along Hosur main road in southern Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The suitcase, which was spotted near the tracks, is believed to have been thrown from a moving train, raising serious concerns about foul play. Local residents alerted authorities after noticing the suspicious bag. The initial inspection was carried out by the Suryanagar police, while the Baiyappanahalli railway police are expected to assume charge as the incident falls under their jurisdiction.

“The suitcase appears to have been thrown from railway property, most likely from a moving train,” said CK Baba, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural. “There were no identification documents or belongings on the victim, so her identity is still unknown. Though it typically falls under the railway police, we are involved due to the location.”

A detailed forensic examination of the suitcase and the body is expected to follow. Police are also reviewing nearby CCTV footage and coordinating with railway authorities to trace train movement during the suspected time of the incident.

The discovery has stirred unease in the locality, with residents expressing shock over the brutality. Many took to social media demanding swift action and enhanced railway surveillance to prevent such horrific acts.

This disturbing case comes just over a week after another tragic incident on May 12, where a 14-year-old tribal girl, who was deaf and mute, was found dead near railway tracks in Ramanagara district, Karnataka.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had then assured the public that all angles would be investigated. “It is our duty to ensure justice—whether it’s a case of vengeance, abuse, or anything else,” he had said after visiting the victim’s family.

Authorities in Bengaluru are now intensifying efforts to identify the girl and uncover the circumstances that led to her death. The incident adds to growing concerns over the safety of young women and the need for stricter action against this.
