'RJD, Congress Only Looted People': PM Modi Outlines 'Viksit Bihar' Plan Ahead of Polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a slew of development projects worth ₹7,200 crore in poll-bound Bihar while delivering a blistering attack on the opposition RJD and Congress, accusing them of looting the people and halting the state’s progress.

Addressing a large public rally in Motihari, the Prime Minister outlined his vision for a ‘Viksit Bihar’ (Developed Bihar) and contrasted the work of the current NDA government with previous regimes. “During the regime of the RJD and Congress, development had come to a halt, and it was nearly impossible for the poor to receive the money meant for them,” PM Modi said.

“Those in power were only focused on how to loot the funds meant for the poor,” he added, accusing the previous UPA government at the Centre of taking “revenge” on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by sanctioning fewer funds for the state.

As part of the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated multiple projects, flagged off four new Amrit Bharat trains, and handed over the keys to 12,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin. He emphasized that the pace of development has increased because of the “double-engine” government.

PM Modi lauded CM Nitish Kumar for his initiatives, particularly the ‘Jeevika Didi Yojana’ for women’s self-reliance and the recent drive to provide government jobs to lakhs of youth. “Nitish Ji’s government has provided appointments to lakhs of youth… The central government is standing shoulder to shoulder, supporting them,” he said.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister pledged to make efforts to develop the city of Motihari like Mumbai and Gaya like Gurugram. “Our resolve is – a prosperous Bihar, employment for every youth!” he announced.

He also promised to establish a Makhana board to boost production and income for Bihar’s farmers and hailed the success in eliminating Naxalism from areas like Champaran, Aurangabad, and Gaya.
