Aamir Khan Productions Changes DP to Tricolour Amid Boycott Calls Ahead of Sitaare Zameen Par
Aamir Khan Productions changed its social media display pictures to the Indian National Flag on Friday, amid mounting boycott calls targeting the actor’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par.
Netizens observed on Friday that Aamir Khan Productions had replaced its official logo with the Indian Tricolour across platforms including Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook. The change quickly sparked discussions online, with many interpreting it as a response to growing backlash.
The move comes as a section of social media users called for a boycott of Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, citing his delayed public support for Operation Sindoor and a resurfaced video of the actor from a past visit to Turkey.
Reddit threads and X posts flooded timelines shortly after the profile picture switch, with many users labeling it “damage control.”
“Lol he’s being boycotted online so clearly did it as damage control,” one user wrote. Another commented, “It’s not like people wanting to boycott will change their minds, why are they trying to damage control?”
However, others noted that the move may reflect an effort to project national solidarity during sensitive times.
Addressing the recent strain in India-Pakistan relations, Aamir Khan was quoted by ABP News saying, “We need justice and assurance that it [terrorist attacks] won’t happen again. We believe in our government, they’ll take action against the anti-social elements who committed this and bring them to justice.”
The actor’s comments come as India intensifies diplomatic pressure on Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
Amid the online stir, the trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par was released recently and has generated considerable buzz. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on June 20, 2025.
