‘Attempts to Tarnish My Reputation’ Aaditya Thackeray Denies Allegations in Disha Salian Death Case

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday responded to allegations linking him to Disha Salian’s death, calling them attempts to tarnish his reputation as her family seeks a fresh probe.

Aaditya Thackeray broke his silence on March 20, 2025, after reports surfaced that Disha Salian’s family approached the Bombay High Court for a fresh investigation into her death. He stated that such allegations were part of a five-year effort to malign him.

“If the matter is in court, I will respond in court,” Thackeray told reporters, emphasizing his commitment to continue working for the country’s betterment. He refrained from delving into specifics, focusing instead on the broader narrative against him.

Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, in what Mumbai Police initially classified as an accidental death. Her father, Satish Salian, recently questioned this conclusion and sought a court-monitored probe.

According to PTI, Satish Salian’s petition to the Bombay High Court requests an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray and a CBI investigation. However, his lawyer clarified that the petition is still being finalized and not yet officially filed.

Disha’s death preceded Sushant Singh Rajput’s by six days, with the latter’s case later transferred to the CBI amid public outcry. The renewed focus on Disha’s case has heightened scrutiny and led to increased security outside the Salian residence.

The development has sparked political reactions, with some leaders questioning the timing of the plea. Thackeray’s comments aim to counter what he sees as a concerted effort to damage his public image amid the legal proceedings.

The Bombay High Court will determine whether to accept the petition and order a fresh probe. Aaditya Thackeray is expected to formally respond if the case proceeds, as public and legal attention continues to grow.
