Shots Fired at Kapil Sharma's Canada Cafe for Second Time in a Month, Terror Link Suspected

Gunshots were fired at comedian and actor Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada on Thursday, marking the second such violent attack on the establishment in just a month. The cafe, located in Surrey, British Columbia, is owned by Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath. Authorities suspect the attacks are linked to a notorious gang with ties to a banned Khalistani terrorist organization.

The first incident occurred on July 9, which investigators believe was orchestrated by the Laddi gang, an outfit connected to the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). The repeated attacks come despite a recent show of solidarity, when the cafe hosted Surrey Mayor Brenda Lock and local police just last week.

Following that get-together, Sharma had posted a video on Instagram with the caption, “United we stand against violence,” signaling a defiant stand against the threats.

The suspected mastermind, Harjit Singh Laddi, is a fugitive wanted in India on multiple terrorism-related charges. He is believed to be a key figure behind a series of violent attacks targeting Hindu leaders and individuals with pro-India affiliations.

Laddi is the prime suspect in the April 2024 assassination of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Prabhakar in Punjab. India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to his capture.
