Yuzvendra Chahal to Pay Rs 4.75 Crore Alimony as Divorce with Dhanashree Verma Nears Finalization
Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has agreed to pay Rs 4.75 crore as permanent alimony to choreographer Dhanashree Verma, with their divorce set to be finalized on March 20, 2025, after nearly a year of separation.
On March 19, 2025, Bar and Bench reported that Chahal and Verma reached a consent term for their divorce. Chahal has already paid Rs 2.37 crore of the agreed Rs 4.75 crore alimony, with the remaining amount due post-decree.
The family court had noted non-payment of the full alimony as partial non-compliance by Chahal. The Bombay High Court stepped in, overturning a prior ruling and directing the family court to finalize the divorce by Thursday.
Earlier reports claimed Verma demanded Rs 60 crore in alimony, sparking widespread speculation. However, her family swiftly dismissed these claims as “baseless” and urged media to verify facts before reporting.

A Verma family member stated, “We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. No such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumours whatsoever.”
Chahal and Verma, married since December 2020, have been living apart for nearly a year. The couple filed for divorce by mutual consent in February 2025, citing personal reasons for their split.
The Bombay High Court waived the mandatory six-month cooling-off period, fast-tracking the process. The final divorce decree is expected on March 20, concluding their four-year marriage.
With the divorce set to be finalized tomorrow, attention now turns to the completion of the alimony payment. Both parties have remained silent on personal details, focusing on concluding the legal proceedings.
