A powerful explosion ripped through an oxygen plant in Mohali, Punjab, on Wednesday morning, killing two people and injuring at least three others. The blast occurred around 9 a.m. at a factory located in the city’s Phase 11 industrial area, prompting an immediate and large-scale emergency response.

Medical teams, police, and district administration officials rushed to the scene to launch rescue operations. The injured were quickly shifted to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6 for treatment. SP City Sirivennela confirmed the casualties and stated that an investigation into the cause of the explosion is now underway.

“In the industrial area of Phase 11, a massive blast took place at around 9 AM in an oxygen cylinder plant, killing two employees and injuring 3,” he said. “Preliminary investigation is going on, and we are still finding out the reason… There might be some leakage still,” he added, indicating the site may not yet be secure.
