2 Sharp Wounds to Head: Autopsy of Meghalaya Tourist Reveals Brutal Murder

The autopsy report of Raja Raghuvanshi, the Indore resident found murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has revealed he was killed by two brutal, sharp wounds to the head—one from the front and another from the back. This chilling detail deepens the mystery surrounding the case, which has seen his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, go from being a missing person to the prime accused in a contract killing plot, a charge she denies.

The case took a dramatic turn on Monday with Sonam’s arrest in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, a week after her husband’s body was discovered in a deep gorge in the Cherrapunji forest area. In her first statement to her family, Sonam has claimed she is innocent and was herself a victim of abduction. Her father stated that Sonam told them over the phone that she was kidnapped, there was an attempt to rob her, and she does not remember how she ended up in Ghazipur.

However, this narrative stands in stark contrast to the claims of the Meghalaya Police. Meghalaya’s Director General of Police, Idashisha Nongrang, confirmed that Sonam is allegedly involved in planning her husband’s murder. Police accuse her of having an affair with a man identified as Raj Kushwaha and hiring him along with three other men to execute the crime. Kushwaha and the other three accused have also been arrested from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The couple, who had recently married, arrived in Meghalaya for their honeymoon last month and went missing on May 23. A tourist guide later told police that the newlyweds were last seen with three other men. A massive search operation was launched, which ended tragically on June 2 with the recovery of Raja’s body. Their rented scooter had been found abandoned several kilometres away with the keys still intact.

Sonam’s family has vehemently rejected the police’s claims, accusing the Meghalaya authorities of framing her to cover up a botched investigation. They have demanded a CBI probe into the case and said they plan to appeal to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The case has gripped the nation with its conflicting accounts and tragic circumstances, turning a honeymoon trip into a complex and harrowing murder investigation.
