3 'Foreign Terrorists' Killed In Gunfight Near Srinagar's Dachigam Forest

Three terrorists were killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces in the upper reaches of the Dachigam forest near Srinagar on Monday. The encounter unfolded during a large-scale joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, which was launched after gunshots were heard in the area earlier in the day.

Top intelligence sources have confirmed that all three slain militants were foreign nationals belonging to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. The sources clarified that the encounter, part of a month-long intelligence-based operation, has no connection to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps posted on X about the operation, codenamed “Op Mahadev”. The post stated, “Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress,” confirming the engagement with the terrorists.

Security forces have cordoned off the dense forest area and are conducting extensive search and combing operations to recover weapons and the bodies of the slain militants. Further details are awaited as the operation continues.
