A significant joint operation was conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Punjab Police. They killed three suspected members of the Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module. The encounter occurred in the Puranpur area of Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday morning.

Identities and Involvement

The suspects were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18). They were residents of Gurdaspur, Punjab. Officials revealed that the trio was allegedly involved in a recent grenade attack on a police checkpoint in Gurdaspur.

The Encounter

Uttar Pradesh Police Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash reported that the operatives sustained severe injuries. This happened during the gunfire exchange. “They were immediately rushed to CHC Puranpur for treatment, where they later succumbed to their injuries,” he stated.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav also confirmed the encounter, describing it as a major breakthrough against the KZF. Yadav emphasized that the terror module was responsible for grenade attacks on police establishments in Punjab’s border areas.

The operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and two Glock pistols. It also resulted in a substantial cache of ammunition. This signals a disruption of the group’s operational capacity.

UP DGP Prashant Kumar commended the swift action by the joint police teams. He stated that investigations are ongoing. Their goal is to dismantle the remaining elements of the terror network. “The ground situation is under control, and legal proceedings are underway,” added Yash.

A Coordinated Effort

The Punjab DGP praised the collaboration between the Uttar Pradesh STF and Punjab Police. “This encounter highlights our commitment to neutralizing terror threats and ensuring public safety,” Yadav remarked.

The incident marks a significant success in the ongoing battle against terrorism in the region. Investigative teams are now focusing on uncovering deeper links within the KZF network.
