Children Killed, Over 60 Trapped as Rajasthan School Roof Collapses

At least four children were killed and more than 60 are feared trapped after the roof of a primary school collapsed in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Friday morning. The tragic incident occurred at the Piplodi Primary School, triggering a frantic rescue operation involving officials and local villagers.

The collapse happened at around 8:30 am, shortly after the school day had started and children were studying in their classrooms. According to initial reports, the roof of one classroom suddenly gave way with a loud crash, burying dozens of students under the debris.

The school building was reportedly in a dilapidated condition, and its structural integrity may have been further weakened by recent heavy rainfall in the region.

Local villagers were the first to rush to the scene, frantically trying to rescue the trapped children. They were soon joined by official rescue teams, who are using cranes and JCB machines to carefully remove the rubble. Anxious families have gathered at the site, waiting for news of their children.

Officials have confirmed that injured children are being rushed to the nearby Manohar Thana Community Health Centre for urgent medical treatment. The hospital has been put on high alert to handle the emergency.

Senior administrative and law enforcement officials have reached the spot and are overseeing the rescue and relief efforts. An investigation into the cause of the structural collapse is expected to be launched by the authorities.
