At Bengal Rally, PM Modi Hits Out At Mamata: 'Lies, Lawlessness And Loot'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a blistering attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal, accusing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of “misrule” marked by “lies, lawlessness, and loot.”

Addressing a public rally in Durgapur, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth over ₹5,400 crore. He asserted that the people of West Bengal are now turning towards the BJP with hope.

The Prime Minister slammed the TMC for the state’s economic condition, stating that it was forcing the youth to leave in search of opportunities. “Today the youth of West Bengal is forced to migrate to other states. Even for small works, the youth has to go to other states…Today, instead of new industries coming here, the old ones are being shut down. We have to bring Bengal out of this bad phase,” PM Modi said.

He further accused the ruling party of obstructing progress, saying the “TMC is acting like a wall in the path of West Bengal’s development.”

Earlier at the event, the Prime Minister unveiled a series of major infrastructure projects for the state’s Oil and Gas, Power, and Rail sectors. He laid the foundation stone for a Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd (BPCL) City Gas Distribution project worth around ₹1,950 crore for Bankura and Purulia districts.

PM Modi also dedicated the 132-km Durgapur to Kolkata section of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga pipeline to the nation. The project is valued at over ₹1,190 crore. Additionally, he inaugurated pollution control systems at thermal power stations in Durgapur and Raghunathpur, worth over ₹1,457 crore.
