Autopsy Reveals 4 Bullets to Chest, Contradicting ‘Shot From Behind’ Claim in Radhika Yadav Case

The postmortem report of tennis player Radhika Yadav has revealed that she was shot four times in the chest, contradicting her father’s earlier statement that he fired at her from behind, police sources confirmed on Saturday.
Radhika, 25, was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their Gurugram Sector 57 residence on Thursday morning. The case, registered based on the family’s complaint, initially stated that the accused shot Radhika from behind while she was in the kitchen.
Dr Deepak Mathur, surgeon and member of the Government Hospital Board, told India Today that all four bullets were found on the front of Radhika’s body and were recovered for forensic examination. “All bullet wounds were on the chest. The bullets have been sent for further analysis,” Dr Mathur said.
The findings raise fresh questions about the sequence of events described by Deepak Yadav during police interrogation, where he had confessed to shooting his daughter over disputes linked to villagers’ taunts and her refusal to shut down her tennis academy. Police had earlier cited Deepak’s claim that he was angered by allegations that he was living off his daughter’s income and concerns over her social media presence.
Following the murder, a music video titled ‘KARWAAN’ featuring Radhika surfaced online, triggering speculation about whether her aspirations to become a social media influencer may have contributed to the tension within the family.
On the day of the incident, Radhika’s uncle Kuldeep Yadav and cousin Piyush rushed her to Asia Maringo Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. A licensed .32 bore revolver was recovered from the crime scene with five empty shells and one live round.
The Gurugram Police confirmed that Deepak Yadav confessed during preliminary questioning, and an FIR under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act was filed. However, the autopsy contradiction may lead to further questioning to establish the exact manner in which the shooting took place.
Senior police officials said the investigation is ongoing, and forensic results, along with ballistic tests, will be critical in reconstructing the crime sequence. “We are examining all angles, including the latest postmortem findings, and will take appropriate legal steps based on evidence,” an officer involved in the case stated.
