Centre Ready For 'Operation Sindoor' Debate In Parliament, Says Kiren Rijiju Ahead Of Monsoon Session

A day before the start of the Monsoon Session, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said the government is ready to hold discussions on all key issues, including the recent ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan.

Speaking after a customary all-party meeting in New Delhi, Rijiju assured that the government would not shy away from any topic and called for cooperation from the opposition for the smooth functioning of the House, which begins its session on Monday.

“We are open to discussing important issues like Operation Sindoor in Parliament. There must be coordination between the government and the Opposition to ensure proper functioning of the House,” Rijiju said. When asked about the opposition’s plan to corner the government on US President Trump’s ceasefire claims, the minister stated that all questions will be addressed inside Parliament.

In a major development, Rijiju also confirmed that an impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Varma is on the government’s agenda for the session. He said that more than 100 MPs have already signed the motion. “In the Justice Varma case, the process will be undertaken together by all parties. This is not the move by the Government alone,” he clarified, adding that the timeline for its introduction is yet to be decided.

The minister described the all-party meeting, which was attended by 54 members from 51 parties, as “constructive.” He said the government has taken note of the issues raised by various parties and is prepared to table 17 bills during the session.

“We may belong to different ideologies, but ensuring that Parliament runs properly is everyone’s responsibility – Opposition’s as well as Government’s,” Rijiju asserted.

He also acknowledged concerns raised about MPs from smaller parties getting less time to speak and assured that the matter would be taken up with the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman to ensure fair time allocation.
