Chased by Bikers Past Top Cop's House: CCTV Shows Disabled UP Woman's Horror Before Rape; 2 Arrested

Horrifying CCTV footage has captured the final moments of terror for a 21-year-old specially-abled woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur before she was kidnapped and brutally raped on Monday. The video shows the woman running for her life on a deserted road, looking back in fear as several men on motorcycles chase her, disturbingly, right past the residence of a senior police officer. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and raised serious questions about safety, even in areas housing top government officials.

The young woman was walking home from her maternal uncle’s house, a short distance of just one kilometre, when she was accosted. According to police, a man on a bike forced her to sit with him and took her to a secluded spot where she was raped. However, her family alleges she was gang-raped by the group of men seen in the footage.

After she failed to return home, her frantic family began a desperate search. She was later found lying unconscious in some bushes near a police post, her clothes in disarray. Upon regaining consciousness, the survivor recounted the horrific assault, stating she was gang-raped by the bike-borne men.

Following a complaint and a medical examination that confirmed rape, police launched a manhunt. Two accused, identified as Ankur Verma and Harshit Pandey, were arrested after a police encounter and are currently hospitalized. “A specially-abled woman was returning home… she was taken to a deserted spot, where she was raped. A medical examination was done. We are monitoring the CCTV footage. We are working swiftly to catch the accused,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vishal Pandey.

The survivor’s family has accused the police of negligence, alleging that CCTV cameras near the police post where she was found were not working. They also highlighted the chilling fact that the crime occurred in a high-security area where the residences of the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, and local judges are located. The investigation is ongoing, with police examining all available CCTV footage.
