‘China Used Pakistan As Live Lab, Shared Op Sindoor Intel’: Top Army Official

A top Indian Army official on Friday made the explosive claim that China provided “all possible support,” including “live updates” on Indian military movements, to Pakistan during the ‘Operation Sindoor‘ conflict in May. The officer also asserted that Beijing uses Pakistan as a “live lab” to test its weapon systems.

Speaking at an event in the national capital, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Capability Development & Sustenance), Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, exposed the deep-rooted nexus between the two adversaries, revealing that India was effectively fighting on one border against three nations.

“We had one border and two adversaries, actually three. Pakistan was in the front. China was providing all possible support. 81% of the military hardware with Pakistan is Chinese,” Lt Gen Singh said while addressing the ‘New Age Military Technologies’ event organised by FICCI.

He further revealed that even as Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks were underway between India and Pakistan to de-escalate the four-day conflict, China was actively feeding intelligence to Islamabad. “When DGMO-level talks were on, Pakistan had the live updates of our important vectors, from China,” the General stated.

This collusion, he argued, allows Beijing to gain invaluable combat data on its military systems. “China is able to test its weapons against other weapons, so it’s like a live lab available to them,” he added, highlighting the strategic challenge this poses for India.

Lt Gen Singh also pointed to the significant role played by Turkey, which provided crucial military hardware, including drones, to the Pakistani army during the conflict that was triggered by a terror attack in Pahalgam.

The Deputy Army Chief stressed that these developments underscore the urgent need for India to develop and deploy a robust and indigenous air defence system. He warned that while Pakistan did not target Indian population centres this time, the country must be prepared for such a scenario in any future conflict.

The remarks are the most direct and high-level acknowledgement from the Indian military establishment about the extent of Chinese and Turkish collusion with Pakistan during the recent hostilities.
