Class 10 Student Stabbed to Death by Schoolmate in Ahmedabad Over Minor Dispute
A shocking incident of school violence has rocked Ahmedabad after a 15-year-old Class 10 student was fatally stabbed by a fellow student at the Seventh Day School in the Khokhra area on Tuesday. The deadly confrontation, which has sparked widespread outrage, is believed to be the culmination of a dispute that began over a minor altercation a week earlier. The injured student was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leading to protests and demands for justice from his family and the local community.
According to police, the tragic chain of events was set in motion by a minor disagreement on a staircase a week ago, which involved the victim’s cousin and an eighth-grade student getting into a dispute after one elbowed the other. On Tuesday, when the 15-year-old victim approached the eighth-grader to resolve the matter, he was allegedly attacked with a knife by one of the younger student’s friends. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Police have since detained the suspects and have begun a thorough investigation. An initial case of attempted murder is now expected to be upgraded to murder following the victim’s death. Investigators have secured crucial CCTV footage from the school premises and have recorded statements from several students who witnessed the horrific incident. Authorities have stated that the exact sequence of events will be confirmed once the investigation is complete.
The school’s handling of the incident has also come under intense scrutiny. The District Education Officer (DEO) has issued a notice to the school administration for allegedly failing to report the incident promptly and attempting to suppress the matter. The school has been ordered to submit a detailed report along with the CCTV footage.
On Wednesday morning, the school became the site of a large protest, as members of the Sindhi community and numerous parents gathered to demand accountability from the principal and staff for what they termed as negligence. In response, the school declared an immediate holiday as a mark of respect for the deceased student.
