'Congress Gave PoK to Pakistan, BJP Will Reclaim It': Amit Shah During Op Sindoor Debate In Rajya Sabha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday made a powerful declaration in the Rajya Sabha, accusing the Congress party of giving away Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and vowing that the BJP-led government will bring it back into India’s fold. Speaking during a heated debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’, Shah launched a blistering attack on the opposition’s record on national security.

“You are asking about PoK, BJP will get back PoK even though you gave it away,” Shah asserted in the Upper House. He accused the Congress of being responsible for the creation of PoK, suggesting India could have reclaimed the territory after the 1971 war when it held 93,000 Pakistani soldiers in captivity. “Rahul Gandhi should not worry about PoK, the BJP will take it back,” he added.

The Home Minister contrasted the Modi government’s muscular approach to terrorism with that of the previous UPA regime. He claimed that while the UPA government merely sent “dossiers” to Pakistan, the current administration delivered a “befitting reply” through surgical strikes and airstrikes. “For the first time, we went inside Pakistan and reduced terror infrastructure to dust,” Shah said, adding that Pakistan was forced to its knees and “begged India to stop.”

Shah further criticized the Congress, stating they would have likely given a “clean chit” to Pakistan after the recent Pahalgam terror attack and had no moral right to question the BJP on its handling of terrorism. He said that under Prime Minister Modi, India has exercised its right to self-defense under the UN Charter by dismantling terror infrastructure on foreign soil.

The minister also touched upon the broader security landscape, accusing the Congress of failing to tackle terrorism, Naxalism, and insurgency in the Northeast during its long tenure. The debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, has been a focal point in both houses of Parliament this week, with the government defending its aggressive counter-terrorism strategy.
