Corruption, Lawlessness, Illegal Immigrants: PM Modi’s Triple Attack on Mamata in Kolkata
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a broadside against the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal, accusing the Trinamool Congress of fostering corruption, lawlessness, and illegal immigration through appeasement politics. Addressing a large gathering in Kolkata, the Prime Minister asserted that central funds meant for the poor were being looted and funneled to the TMC cadre, and declared that real change would only come when the party is ousted from power.
In a fiery speech, Modi claimed that while the BJP-led Centre has provided all possible help for the state’s development, its progress is being deliberately stalled by the ruling party. “The money that the central government sends for the development of the state is being looted and is spent on the TMC cadre,” he alleged. He framed the state’s progress as essential to the national vision, stating, “The BJP believes that until West Bengal develops, the ‘yatra’ of ‘Viksit Bharat’ will not be successful.”
The Prime Minister did not hold back on the law and order situation, saying, “The atrocities against women in the state have increased. Crime and corruption have become the identity of the TMC government.” He made a direct appeal to the people, urging them to vote for the BJP to ensure that “criminals and corrupt should be in jail, not in power.”
He also took aim at the TMC and Congress over the issue of illegal immigration, accusing them of encouraging infiltration for political gain. “Vote for us and the infiltrators will run away… We will not allow those infiltrators who are taking away the jobs of our youth and torturing women to stay in India,” he asserted.
The sharp political attack was paired with a major infrastructure push for Kolkata. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated projects worth Rs 5,200 crore, including three crucial new metro stretches. For the first time in 41 years, the city’s airport will be directly connected to the metro network.
He also laid the foundation stone for the Rs 1,200-crore Kona Expressway, designed to improve connectivity between Howrah and Kolkata. In his address, Modi also hailed the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s military strikes against Pakistan, attributing the victory to the country’s growing self-reliance and the power of ‘Make in India’ weaponry.
