Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Gets Death Threat; Caller Identified, Manhunt Launched

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta received a death threat via a phone call late on Thursday night, prompting a swift and coordinated response from police forces in both Ghaziabad and the national capital. While the caller has been identified through preliminary investigation, the phone used to make the threat has since been switched off.

According to police officials, the threatening call was received at the Ghaziabad Police Control Room at approximately 11 PM on Thursday. The call was reportedly made from within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station area in Ghaziabad.

Realizing the gravity of the threat against the Delhi Chief Minister, the Ghaziabad Police immediately alerted the Delhi Police. This triggered a high-level security alert in the capital, and security measures around the Chief Minister have been intensified as a precautionary measure.

An investigation was launched promptly, and police have managed to identify the individual to whom the phone number is registered. However, the phone was switched off shortly after the call was made, making the suspect temporarily untraceable. Police teams from both states are now working to trace the location of the phone and apprehend the individual responsible for the threat.

The incident occurred just hours after it was reported that Chief Minister Gupta has been allotted her official residence after more than 100 days in office. Sources confirmed that Bungalows 1/8 and 2/8 on Raj Niwas Marg in the Civil Lines area have been assigned to her. The location is close to her assembly constituency, Shalimar Bagh.

Senior officials from the Delhi and Ghaziabad police are monitoring the investigation closely. Further details are awaited as the probe progresses.
