In a surprising turn of events, Delhi Police have discoverd that bomb threat emails sent to several schools in the city were done by students themselves, aiming to delay their upcoming exams. The Special Cell of Delhi Police revealed that at least two schools in the Rohini district received threatening emails from their own students, who sought to postpone exams due to inadequate preparation.

Details of the Incidents

One of the affected institutions was Venkateshwar Global School. It received a threatening email. This happened a day after a mysterious blast occurred at the Rohini Prashant Vihar PVR Multiplex on November 28. Another school in Rohini also received a threatening email from one of its students. The motive was the same—to have the school shut down.

Investigation and Findings

Upon investigation, the police discovered that the emails were sent by two different students from the same school. Both students confessed during counseling sessions that they had sent the emails to halt the exams because they were unprepared. They mentioned that they had been inspired by previous incidents where bomb threats were made to schools. After counseling, the students were released, and their parents were warned about the incident.

Wider Context

This revelation is part of a broader pattern of bomb threats targeting educational institutions in Delhi. Over the past 11 days, more than 100 schools have received bomb threat emails. Many of these emails were sent using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). This has complicated the police’s efforts to trace the perpetrators. Since May 2024, over 50 bomb threat emails have targeted schools, hospitals, airports, and airline companies in the city. Authorities have yet to make significant breakthroughs in these cases.

Implications and Concerns

These incidents highlight the lengths to which some students may go to avoid academic responsibilities. They also underscore the need for increased vigilance. Students, parents, and educational institutions must increase awareness to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Conclusion

The discovery that students themselves are behind these bomb threats to delay exams is both alarming and revealing. It serves as a stark reminder of the pressures students face. Some may consider extreme measures to escape academic challenges. Educational authorities must address these underlying issues to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for all.
