Delhi Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of US Vice President JD Vance’s arrival in the capital on Monday morning for his first official visit to India.

US Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to arrive at the Palam Air Force Station in New Delhi around 9:30 am on Monday, April 21. To ensure seamless movement and heightened security, Delhi Traffic Police have announced route diversions and parking restrictions across key roads in the city.

In a statement, the traffic department said, “Special traffic arrangements will be in place on 21.04.2025 (Monday) from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM due to a special event to ensure smooth traffic regulation.”

Parking will be strictly prohibited on Sardar Patel Marg, Gurugram Road, Parade Road, Thimmaiya Marg, Air Force Road, and surrounding areas. Vehicles parked improperly will be towed to the traffic pit near Kalibari Mandir Marg, opposite Bhairon Temple.

Commuters are advised to use alternate routes and avoid the affected corridors during this window.

From 11 am to 2 pm, Central Delhi roads like C-Hexagon, Janpath Road, and Sardar Patel Marg will face restrictions on vehicle movement and parking. Additional restrictions apply on Sikandra Road, Firoz Shah Road, MNLP, Vikas Marg, Noida Link Road, and Akshardham.

Officials urge commuters to allow additional travel time and avoid unnecessary travel through central Delhi during these hours.

Traffic restrictions will return during the evening hours between 6 pm and 9 pm as Vance meets with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sardar Patel Marg, Kamal Ataturk Road, Gurugram Road, Parade Road, and Air Force Road will be impacted.

Alternate routes include Vande Mataram Marg via Dhaula Kuan Flyover to R/A Shankar Road and Talkatora Road. Travellers moving between Delhi Airport and Dhaula Kuan should use Rao Tula Ram Marg.

Vance’s visit marks his first diplomatic tour of India as US Vice President. After meeting PM Modi, he is expected to visit Jaipur and Agra before concluding his four-day trip on April 24.

His arrival in India follows a stop in Rome, where he boarded Air Force Two with his family, as per the White House Press Pool.
