5 Dead, Several Feared Trapped as Wall Collapses Inside Delhi’s Humayun’s Tomb Complex

A tragic incident marred Independence Day in the national capital as a portion of a wall collapsed inside the historic Humayun’s Tomb complex on Friday afternoon, killing at least five people and injuring several others. At least seven more people are feared to be trapped under the debris, and a frantic rescue operation is underway.
The collapse occurred at a Dargah located within the premises of the 16th-century UNESCO World Heritage site in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area. According to the Delhi Fire Service, an emergency call was received at approximately 3:51 pm, prompting an immediate response.
Fire tenders and other emergency teams rushed to the site to launch rescue operations. Officials confirmed that 11 people have been rescued from the rubble so far and have been moved to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Humayun’s Tomb complex is one of Delhi’s most significant historical landmarks and a major tourist attraction, drawing a large number of visitors throughout the year.
