AAP Appoints Saurabh Bharadwaj As Delhi Chief Manish Sisodia Assigned Punjab

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday appointed Saurabh Bharadwaj as Delhi convenor and tasked Manish Sisodia with leading the Punjab unit, rejigging roles across key states.

In a high-level meeting on March 21, 2025, AAP finalized leadership changes. Saurabh Bharadwaj replaced Gopal Rai as Delhi convenor, while Manish Sisodia was named Punjab in-charge with Satyendar Jain as his co-incharge.

Sisodia and Jain will oversee AAP’s organizational tasks in Punjab and support the Bhagwant Mann government. Their roles include strengthening the party and advancing the “Punjab Model” in healthcare and education.

Gopal Rai was appointed Gujarat convenor, teaming up with Durgesh Pathak. They will work to expand AAP’s presence, secure by-poll wins, and assess ground realities after the party’s 2022 breakthrough of five seats.

AAP holds two seats in Goa with a 6-7% vote share. While Saurabh Bharadwaj was considered for a role there, Durgesh Pathak is likely to retain oversight of the coastal state’s operations for now.

The reshuffle was decided in a meeting attended by Sisodia, Sandeep Pathak, Rai, Atishi, Bharadwaj, Pathak, Pankaj Gupta, and Raghav Chadha. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann joined via video conference.

After its 2022 Punjab victory, AAP made strides in Gujarat, winning 14% of votes and five seats in its debut assembly polls. The party aims to challenge BJP dominance in these states.

Sisodia and Jain will soon take a more active role in Punjab, while Rai and Pathak focus on Gujarat’s upcoming by-polls. The leadership changes signal AAP’s intent to bolster its organizational strength ahead of future elections.
