Acid Attack On DU Student Near College; Stalker, 2 Others On The Run
A 20-year-old Delhi University student suffered burn injuries in a horrifying acid attack near Lakshmibai College in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar on Sunday morning. The main accused has been identified as her stalker, Jitender, who, along with two associates, allegedly threw the corrosive substance at her before fleeing the scene. The student is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital and is reported to be out of danger.
The incident occurred around 10 am as the victim, a second-year non-college student residing in Mukundpur, was walking to an extra class. According to her statement to the police, Jitender, accompanied by his associates Ishan and Arman, approached her on a motorcycle. “Ishan handed over a bottle to Arman, who threw acid on her,” the police said in a statement. The student was able to shield her face but sustained burns on both of her hands.
The victim revealed to investigators that Jitender, who lives in her neighborhood, had been stalking her for some time. She also reported that they had a heated argument about a month prior to the attack. Following the incident, a call was made from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital alerting the police about the admission of the injured student.
Delhi Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Teams from the Crime Branch and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have visited the site to collect evidence. A massive manhunt has been launched to apprehend the three accused, who remain at large.
