Delhi Horror : 9-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Suitcase in Delhi’s Nehru Vihar, Sexual Assault Suspected
A 9-year-old girl was found dead, stuffed inside a suitcase, in a locked apartment in North East Delhi’s Nehru Vihar on Saturday night, with police suspecting sexual assault based on initial medical findings. The horrific discovery was made by the girl’s father after she went missing while visiting a relative. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect.
The incident unfolded around 8:41 pm on Saturday, when a PCR call alerted the Dayalpur police station to a disturbing situation in Gali No. 2, Nehru Vihar. The girl had left her home to visit a relative but failed to return after two hours. Her father, growing anxious, began searching the neighborhood. A tip from an unidentified source led him to a nearby flat, approximately 200 meters from their residence.
Upon reaching the second-floor apartment, the father found it locked from the outside. He broke the lock and entered, only to find his daughter motionless and naked inside a suitcase. She was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
A senior police officer stated, “The doctors observed injury marks on her face and indicated possible sexual assault. We have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.” Multiple police teams are now scouring the area, collecting evidence, including CCTV footage, to identify and apprehend the accused.
Police are yet to identify a suspect, but the investigation is moving at a rapid pace. Forensic teams have been deployed to the apartment to gather physical evidence, and authorities are questioning neighbors and potential witnesses. The community remains on edge as the search for the perpetrator continues.
