Delhi Woman, Her Brother-in-Law Lover Kill Husband; Chilling Chats Reveal Plot

A 35-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover, who is also his brother-in-law, in a chilling plot that was uncovered through their WhatsApp chats, Delhi Police said on Saturday.

The accused, Sushmita Dev and her lover Rahul Dev, were arrested for allegedly conspiring to kill her husband, Karan Dev, by drugging him and then administering a fatal electric shock in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka.

The murder came to light on July 13 when Sushmita informed Karan’s family that he had been electrocuted. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The family’s suspicion grew when Sushmita, Rahul, and his father reportedly resisted a post-mortem examination of the body.

The case took a decisive turn when the victim’s younger brother, Kunal, discovered incriminating chats on Sushmita’s phone. The messages exposed her two-year-long affair with Rahul and their detailed, cold-blooded plan to murder Karan. The family immediately handed the evidence over to the police, leading to the couple’s arrest.

The chats revealed a disturbing conversation between the lovers as they allegedly carried out the murder.

“Check how long it takes to die after taking the medicine. It’s been three hours… but he hasn’t died yet either,” Sushmita wrote to Rahul. When she asked for suggestions, he replied, “If you can’t think of anything else, give him an electric shock.”

Sushmita then asked how she should tie him up, to which Rahul suggested using tape. In a later message, Sushmita wrote, “His breathing is very slow,” and Rahul instructed her to “Give him all the medicine you have.”

The final message from Sushmita read, “I can’t get his mouth open… You come here, maybe we can manage to feed it to him together.”

According to Karan Dev’s family, the motive behind the murder was to allow Sushmita and Rahul to be together and gain control of his property. Both accused are in police custody and are being interrogated as the investigation continues.
