Over 50 Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threats Today, Panic Grips Capital Second Time This Week

Panic gripped the national capital yet again on Wednesday morning as over 50 schools across Delhi received bomb threats via email, prompting immediate police action and widespread concern among parents. According to police sources, the threats targeted multiple institutions, including schools reportedly located in Malviya Nagar and Najafgarh. This is the second such mass-threat incident to rattle the city’s schools this week, creating a climate of fear and disruption.

The development comes just two days after a similar scare on Monday, when 32 schools in the city received menacing emails, triggering large-scale evacuations and frantic security checks. In that incident, schools like Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Modern Convent School, and ShreeRam World School were targeted, forcing parents to rush to pick up their children amidst the chaos. “All students and staff have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Search operations are underway,” a Delhi Police officer had stated at the time.

Investigations into Monday’s threats revealed that the emails were sent by a group calling itself “The Terrorizers 111 Group.” The sender had demanded a ransom of $5,000 in cryptocurrency and claimed to have hacked into the schools’ IT systems while planting “pipe bombs and advanced explosive devices” in the buildings. Those threats were later determined to be a hoax.

Unfortunately, cases of coordinated, hoax bomb threats targeting educational institutions are not new to Delhi. In May of last year, nearly 300 schools were targeted in a single day with similar emails that caused widespread alarm before being declared non-credible.

More recently, in July, a series of threats were sent to eight schools over three consecutive days. The iconic St. Stephen’s College of Delhi University also received a similar mail during that period, which warned that IEDs and RDX had been planted on its campus. Authorities are now investigating the latest wave of threats to determine their origin and credibility.
