Teen Stabbed to Death in Delhi's Seelampur, 'Hindu Exodus' Posters Spark Communal Tension

A 17-year-old boy was killed in the Seelampur locality of northeast Delhi late Thursday night, allegedly by a group of Muslim youths due to an old enmity. The incident has led to local unrest, with residents putting up posters that read “Hindu exodus” and appealing for intervention from political leaders.

Delhi Police confirmed that a murder case has been registered and multiple teams are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and arrest the accused. Authorities are also verifying whether the attackers are minors or adults.

“A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the Seelampur area. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. A case has been registered at PS Seelampur,” said a Delhi Police spokesperson.

Following the murder, residents placed posters outside their homes with slogans like “Yogi ji, help us” and “This house is for sale,” citing fears for their safety. Many locals claim Hindu families have already started leaving the area.

The boy’s father, Rajbir Singh, an auto-rickshaw driver, said he witnessed the attack. “I saw 4-5 boys stabbing my son. Many Hindu families have already sold their homes and left. More are planning to leave,” he told reporters.

The victim’s mother said the attack stemmed from a grudge unrelated to her son. “He had gone out to buy milk and never returned. They took out someone else’s grudge on him,” she said.

Rajbir named one of the attackers as Sahil and mentioned a local girl named Zikra, allegedly referred to as “Lady Don” in the area. He claimed she had earlier threatened his son. However, police said Zikra was questioned and later released as no direct role had been found.

In light of the tense situation, paramilitary forces have been deployed in Seelampur to prevent further escalation. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said she had spoken to the Police Commissioner and assured the public of swift justice.

“The police are doing their job, and no stone will be left unturned in bringing the culprits to justice,” Gupta stated on Friday.

Seelampur, a densely populated area in northeast Delhi, has seen tensions in the past. The incident has once again brought focus on inter-community relations and safety concerns in the region.

The victim, the eldest of five siblings, worked at a garment shop in Gandhi Nagar. His sudden death has left the family devastated and shaken the local community.
