On March 22, 2025, relentless rain disrupted operations at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. Airport authorities confirmed that 10 flights were diverted to Chennai due to unsafe landing conditions caused by the weather.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police reported severe congestion due to waterlogging at Hunsmaranahalli. “Traffic towards the International Airport is heavily affected,” they said, as passengers struggled to reach the terminal.

IndiGo, in a statement on X, said, “Unfavourable weather conditions in Bengaluru continue to impact flights. We’re closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates.” The airline urged passengers to check flight statuses online.

The airline added, “Explore rebooking options or claim a refund via our website if plans need adjustment.” Teams are working to resume normal operations once weather conditions improve, IndiGo assured.

Air India also warned of disruptions, stating on X, “Flight operations are impacted due to air traffic congestion in Bengaluru. We advise passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.”

An IndiGo staffer told News18, “Delays are solely due to bad weather. Flights were fine until the afternoon, but evening rain affected the entire schedule. We’re addressing it as it’s a rotational impact.”

With rain expected to ease overnight, airlines aim to normalize schedules by Sunday. Passengers are advised to stay updated, while authorities work to clear waterlogged roads and restore smooth access to the airport.
