‘How He Know They Will In Power Of 50 Years’ Rahul Gandhi Links Amit Shah’s Remark to ‘Vote Chori’ Allegations
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday escalated his attack on the BJP, directly linking Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s previous remarks about his party ruling for 50 years to the explosive allegation of “vote chori” (vote theft). Speaking at a rally in Bihar’s Madhubani, Gandhi claimed that Shah’s confident prediction was evidence that the BJP has a long-standing plan to manipulate electoral rolls and stay in power.
“Amit Shah has said many times that the BJP government will last for 40-50 years. So, it got me thinking, how does he know that they will be in power for 40-50 years?” Gandhi asked the crowd during his ‘Voter Adhikaar Yatra’. He then offered his own explanation: “Today, the truth has come out before the country that they (BJP) do ‘vote chori’. It started in Gujarat, then it came to the national level in 2014, and then to other states.”
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha asserted that he does not make baseless claims, stating, “I don’t lie, I only say things when I have facts before me.” He praised the youth of Bihar for participating in the protest yatra, claiming their strength would force the BJP and the Election Commission to “think twice before stealing votes.”
The attack was a coordinated family affair, with Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoing her brother’s sentiments. In a sharp jibe, she turned one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s own campaign slogans back on him. “Narendra Modi had said during the Lok Sabha elections – Congress will steal your buffalo. But Narendra Modi himself is stealing your vote,” she alleged.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra framed the issue as the culmination of a systematic erosion of citizens’ rights, arguing the government had already “stolen employment, stolen PSUs, stolen from you at every level.” She warned that if people allowed their votes to be taken away, they would ultimately lose their identity, rights, and even their citizenship.
