‘Human GPS’ of Terror Outfits, Bagu Khan, Who Aided Over 100 Infiltrations, Killed in J&K Encounter
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir delivered a significant blow to terror networks on Saturday by eliminating Bagu Khan, a notorious Hizbul commander known as the “human GPS” for his unparalleled knowledge of infiltration routes along the Line of Control. Khan, also called Samandar Chacha, was gunned down along with another terrorist during an infiltration attempt in the Nowshera Naar area of the Gurez sector.
Based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir since 1995, Khan was one of the oldest and most prolific facilitators of cross-border terrorism, leveraging his intricate understanding of the region’s treacherous terrain to guide militants into Indian territory. According to sources within the security grid, he was instrumental in planning and executing over 100 infiltration attempts for various terror outfits, making him an invaluable asset for groups operating in the valley.
Despite his affiliation with Hizbul Mujahideen, he collaborated with all terrorist organizations to breach the LoC. After evading capture for decades, Khan’s luck finally ran out during the latest incursion attempt. The successful engagement, dubbed Operation Naushera Nar IV, was initiated after alert troops detected a group of heavily armed infiltrators.
A brief exchange of fire followed, resulting in the neutralization of the two terrorists. His death is being seen as a major setback to the logistical and operational capabilities of terror groups in North Kashmir. This encounter occurred just two days after the Indian Army foiled another infiltration bid in the same Gurez sector, killing two terrorists on Thursday.
