‘I Belong To Aman, Will Cut You Into 35 Pieces’: Knife-Wielding Bride’s Threat To UP Groom On Wedding Night

A 26-year-old groom in Prayagraj endured three nights of terror after his newlywed bride threatened to chop him into 35 pieces with a knife on their wedding night, bluntly telling him she was in love with another man. The shocking ordeal ended a month later with the bride escaping her in-laws’ home by scaling a boundary wall to reunite with her lover.
The groom, Captain Nishad, from the ADA Colony area, was left shaken and traumatised by the incident. He had married Sitara, a resident of Karachhana Deeha village, on April 29. While relatives celebrated their union at a grand reception on May 2, Nishad was living a nightmare inside the couple’s room.
“When I entered the room, she was sitting quietly with a veil on, holding a knife,” Nishad recounted. “She told me, ‘Don’t touch me. I’m Aman’s property. If you try, you’ll be found in 35 pieces.’ I was frozen with fear.” For three consecutive nights, Nishad said he sat awake on a sofa, too scared to sleep, while his bride stayed on the bed with the weapon.
Unable to bear the mental anguish, Nishad confided in his mother on May 3. When confronted, Sitara openly admitted her love for a man named Aman and said she was forced into the marriage. “I love Aman. I want to live with him—only he has the right to spend a wedding night with me,” she told her stunned in-laws.
The groom’s family immediately contacted Sitara’s parents. A meeting was held between the two families on May 25, where a written agreement was drawn up in which Sitara supposedly agreed to accept the marriage. However, the compromise was short-lived.
On the night of May 30, Sitara fled the house. CCTV footage captured her scaling a rear wall around midnight and limping away. The family alleges she ran straight to her lover, Aman. “She even called Aman in front of us and told him to come get her. Aman said he would kill my brother if needed. We were terrified,” said Poonam, the groom’s sister.
Inspector Kishore Gautam of the Naini Bridge Police Station confirmed that the groom’s family had approached them. “The boy’s family submitted an application and requested that no FIR be filed. Both families agreed to resolve the matter through discussion,” he said, classifying it as a domestic dispute where police respected the families’ decision for a mutual resolution.
Now left emotionally scarred, Captain Nishad is struggling to move on from the ordeal. “I feared for my life every night,” he said. “If I ever marry again, it will be with someone who understands the meaning of marriage. If she returns, I don’t think I can live with her. That fear still hasn’t gone away.”
