‘I Failed Everywhere’: Pune Techie, 23, Jumps To Death From Office Building

A 23-year-old IT engineer died by suicide on Monday morning after jumping from the seventh floor of his office building in Pune’s Hinjewadi IT Park. The deceased, identified as Piyush Ashok Kawade, left a meeting midway citing chest pain before taking the fatal step. A handwritten suicide note recovered at the scene expressed a profound sense of personal failure.
The incident took place around 10:30 am at the Hinjewadi Phase One office of multinational company Atlas Copco, where Kawade, a native of Nashik, had been employed for over a year and a half. Colleagues were left in shock as he abruptly left a meeting complaining of chest discomfort.
“He left the meeting midway, claiming chest discomfort, and minutes later jumped off the seventh floor,” a senior police official stated.
A suicide note found at the scene conveyed his distress. “I have failed everywhere in life. Forgive me,” he wrote. In a message to his father, he added that he felt he did not deserve to be his son and apologized for his action. Officials confirmed the note did not mention any work-related stress or professional issues.
Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandre confirmed the incident and said that a thorough investigation is underway. “We are speaking to colleagues and reviewing CCTV footage. While the note did not mention workplace issues, we are exploring all possible angles to understand what may have triggered this act,” he said.
The tragic event has sent ripples of concern through Pune’s IT corridor, raising awareness about the silent mental health struggles faced by young professionals in high-pressure environments. Police are awaiting further details from the deceased’s family and workplace as the investigation continues.
