‘If Pak Attacks, We’ll Respond With Bigger Attack’: PM Modi Recounts Op Sindoor Call With US VP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made a sensational disclosure in Parliament, recounting a high-stakes phone call with US Vice President JD Vance on the night of May 9 during ‘Operation Sindoor’. The Prime Minister revealed that after being warned by Vance of an impending major attack from Pakistan, he responded unequivocally that India’s counter-attack would be even stronger and that Pakistan would “pay a very heavy price”.
Speaking during a fiery debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi said he had missed several calls from the US Vice President as he was in a critical meeting with Indian military officials. “He kept trying for almost an hour… Later, I called him back. He informed me that Pakistan was planning a major attack. That’s what he told me directly,” the Prime Minister stated.
Detailing his firm response, PM Modi told the House, “My response… was clear: if Pakistan intends to carry out such an attack, it will have to pay a very heavy price”. He added that he told the US Vice President, “Hum goli ke jawab gola se denge” (We will respond to a bullet with a cannonball).
The Prime Minister asserted that this resolve was followed by decisive action, stating that India subsequently destroyed significant parts of Pakistan’s military infrastructure. “Now, Pakistan knows that every response from India is stronger than the one before,” he added.
PM Modi also used the address to firmly state that no world leader had asked India to halt ‘Operation Sindoor’, a direct counter to claims made by the Opposition. He outlined three clear principles established by the operation: India will respond to terror on its own terms, it will not be swayed by nuclear blackmail, and it will not differentiate between terrorists and their state sponsors
