India Rejects Pakistan’s Claim Linking It to Waziristan Bombing with 'Contempt'

India’s Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday rejected with contempt claims by the Pakistan Army that India was behind the June 28 suicide bombing in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, which killed 13 Pakistani soldiers and wounded others, including civilians  .

The explosion, carried out by a bomber driving an explosive-lade vehicle into a convoy amid tight curfew, also injured around 19 civilians, including children  . The Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction of the TTP claimed responsibility  .

Indian MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We have seen an official statement by the Pakistan Army seeking to blame India… We reject this statement with the contempt it deserves,” firmly dismissing Pakistan’s assertion  .

Pakistan’s army claimed the attack used a powerful bomb—800 kg of explosives—but provided no proof of Indian involvement  . Islamabad also launched counter-operations after the blast, reportedly killing 14 militants  .

Regional analysts note that North Waziristan, a longstanding insurgent hub, has seen about 290 security personnel killed so far in 2025, with Afghan Taliban and TTP factions accused by Islamabad of orchestrating these attacks  .

India’s reaction is consistent with earlier diplomatic rebukes—such as at the SCO and OIC—where it criticised Pakistan for weaponising terrorism narratives guided by geopolitical interests.

The surge in militant attacks in Pakistan’s border regions is widely tied to the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, with Islamabad holding Kabul responsible—a claim denied by Afghanistan  . Moreover, diplomatic tension entrenches between the nuclear neighbours as India continues to repudiate cross-border blame games without evidence  .
