India Strikes Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi And 3 Air bases After Pakistan Drone Attacks
In a decisive retaliatory operation, India launched strikes early Saturday on Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and three major Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases, top defence sources said. The strikes came in response to Pakistan’s continued drone and missile aggression over the past two days.
The targeted PAF bases included Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Rafiqi Airbase in Shorkot, and Murid Airbase in Chakwal. Explosions were reported in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Lahore around 3 AM. Sources confirmed India used a mix of drones and air-to-surface missiles.
Pakistan’s Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed the attacks on Nur Khan and Rafiqi airbases, but maintained that “all PAF assets are safe.”
While the Pakistan government stated that there were no casualties or material losses, Indian intelligence sources reported significant damage to Pakistani air assets. “They couldn’t even power up their aircraft in time,” one source claimed.
A senior Indian official said the strikes were carefully calibrated. “We hit terror infrastructure, not civilian or military personnel,” the source said. “These are custom-match responses to a long list of provocations.”
The Indian Defence Ministry said the armed forces remain on high alert and all aerial threats are being intercepted with counter-drone and missile defence systems.
Tensions spiked after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 people dead. India responded on Wednesday with precision strikes on terror launchpads in Pakistan and PoK.
Pakistan retaliated by launching over 300 drones and six ballistic missiles at 36 Indian locations late Thursday and Friday, targeting both military bases and civilian areas. India successfully intercepted all missiles, though injuries were reported in Punjab’s Ferozpur.
For three nights, states bordering Pakistan—Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat—witnessed blackouts, heavy shelling, and widespread drone sightings. Over 26 locations were targeted on Friday night alone.
The Defence Ministry assured citizens that the situation is under constant watch. “There’s no cause for panic, but utmost vigilance is advised,” the spokesperson said. India’s counter-operations will continue in line with evolving threats.
