In a major diplomatic push post-Operation Sindoor, India will dispatch cross-party parliamentary delegations to key countries to explain its position on the recent conflict with Pakistan, sources said on Friday.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is coordinating the outreach, which is scheduled to begin after May 22. Invitations have already been extended to Members of Parliament across party lines.

Each team will comprise 5–6 MPs and visit countries including the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Sources said senior lawmakers will lead these missions, with the ruling NDA expected to play a primary role.

“These delegations aim to present India’s side of the story and highlight the cross-border terror threats faced by our country,” a senior government official involved in the planning said.

The diplomatic offensive comes after Operation Sindoor, India’s military retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians. The attack was carried out by Pakistan-based militants, prompting India to strike terror camps across the Line of Control in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The situation escalated quickly, with Pakistan attempting drone attacks on Indian cities and military targets. After four tense days, the two nations agreed to de-escalate on May 10, following high-level military talks.

The all-party initiative follows an all-party meeting convened by the Indian government, where opposition leaders endorsed New Delhi’s response to the terror strike. India has since stepped up engagement with global stakeholders.

Top Indian diplomats and ministers have already briefed foreign counterparts, and the MP-led delegations will now build on that momentum, particularly in Western and Gulf nations.

In the wake of the Pahalgam attack and ensuing conflict, India announced sweeping measures against Pakistan. These include:

  • Cancellation of all visas for Pakistani nationals
  • Downsizing of diplomatic missions
  • Closure of airspace and land borders
  • Suspension of trade ties
  • Termination of the Indus Waters Treaty

Sources say these steps are part of a long-term strategy to isolate Islamabad globally.

The upcoming visits by Indian lawmakers are part of a broader diplomatic strategy to isolate Pakistan on the global stage while solidifying support for India’s stance against cross-border terrorism.

“The world needs to understand the scale of provocation and the maturity with which India responded,” a government source said. “This outreach will ensure that international allies get the complete picture directly from our representatives.”
