Indian Navy Conducts Multiple Anti-Ship Missile Tests in Arabian Sea, Reaffirms Combat Readiness
The Indian Navy conducted multiple anti-ship missile firings in the Arabian Sea, showcasing its readiness for long-range precision strikes amid rising tensions with Pakistan.
Indian warships carried out a series of successful BrahMos anti-ship and anti-surface cruise missile launches in the Arabian Sea, the Navy announced on Sunday. The exercise involved Kolkata-class destroyers, Nilgiri-class frigates, and Krivak-class frigates.
Sharing visuals of the firings, the Indian Navy emphasized its ability to safeguard national interests “Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow.” “Indian Navy ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems, and crew for long-range precision offensive strike,” the Navy said in a statement.
The Navy asserted that it remains “combat-ready, credible, and future-ready” to protect India’s maritime interests.
Following the missile firings, Pakistan issued a navigational notification in the Arabian Sea region. The move comes amid heightened military and diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives.
In response to the attack, India ordered the repatriation of Pakistani nationals, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, and intensified military vigilance along the Line of Control.
Bilateral ties between India and Pakistan have deteriorated sharply after the Pahalgam massacre, the deadliest attack in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Pakistan has suspended all bilateral agreements, and ceasefire violations have resumed along the LoC.
According to the Indian Army, its troops have effectively retaliated against cross-border firing, and no casualties have been reported on the Indian side so far.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme on Sunday, vowed that India would identify and punish those responsible for the terror attack. “Every Indian’s blood is boiling. We will pursue the terrorists to the ends of the Earth,” he said.
The Indian Navy’s demonstration comes as part of broader efforts to bolster national security amid regional instability. The Navy’s show of strength also underscores India’s strategic deterrence capability in the Indian Ocean Region, a critical artery for global trade and energy flows.
BrahMos missiles, developed jointly by India and Russia, are among the fastest and most precise supersonic cruise missiles in the world, capable of striking targets at distances over 400 kilometers.
