In a tragic and shocking incident, an Indian student from Hyderabad was shot dead by unidentified assailants while working at a gas station in Dallas, Texas. The victim, identified as Chandrashekar Pole, was a student at the University of North Texas who had recently completed his master’s degree and was working part-time while seeking full-time employment.
Pole, who had completed his Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery in Hyderabad, moved to the United States in 2023 for higher studies. According to available information, he was on duty at a gas filling station in Delton when he was shot by a person described as being of African-American origin.
The student’s grief-stricken family in Hyderabad has appealed to the government for assistance in bringing his body back home. The incident prompted immediate political response in Telangana.
Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister T Harish Rao, along with other party members, visited the bereaved family to offer their condolences. “It is tragic that Chandra Shekar Pole, a Dalit student from L B Nagar who completed BDS and went to America for higher studies, died in a shooting,” Rao said.
“We, on behalf of BRS, demand that the state government take initiative and make efforts to bring Chandra Shekhar’s mortal remains to his hometown as quickly as possible.”This incident adds to a growing number of violent deaths involving Indian students and professionals in the United States. Just last month, another Indian-origin man from Telangana, Mohammed Nizamuddin, was shot dead by police in California. The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that it is in touch with US authorities and Pole’s family, promising all necessary assistance in this matter.
