IndiGo Passenger Slapped Mid-Flight Goes Missing, Found at Railway Station

A passenger who was slapped by a fellow traveler on an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata went missing after the incident, prompting his family to file a report, before he was eventually located at a railway station in Assam. The victim, identified as Hussan Ahmed Majumdar, a 32-year-old from Assam’s Cachar district, was reportedly suffering a panic attack on flight 6E138 when he was assaulted. The aggressor, Hafijul Rahaman, has since been placed on IndiGo’s no-fly list.
The incident, which was captured on video and circulated widely on social media, shows Majumdar being assisted by cabin crew after demanding to deplane due to a panic attack. In the video, Rahaman is seen slapping Majumdar, prompting intervention from the crew and other passengers. One passenger can be heard questioning Rahaman, stating he has no right to hit anyone. Upon landing in Kolkata, Rahaman was detained by security and handed over to the police, though he was later released.
Concern grew when Majumdar, who was scheduled to take a connecting flight to Silchar, never arrived. His family, waiting at the Silchar airport, became alarmed after seeing the viral video and being unable to reach him as his phone was switched off. His father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar, mentioned that his son had lost his phone in Mumbai and was planning to buy a new one upon returning home. The family filed a missing person complaint after their attempts to get information from airline and airport authorities proved fruitless.
Following the complaint, authorities discovered that Majumdar had not taken his connecting flight or left the Kolkata airport through official exits. He was later found at Barpeta railway station in Assam, appearing unwell. He is now being escorted home by authorities.
IndiGo issued a statement condemning the assault and confirmed the immediate suspension of the unruly passenger from all its flights. “Such unruly behaviour is completely unacceptable and we strongly condemn any actions that compromise the safety and dignity of our passengers and crew,” the airline stated. The airline also confirmed that the incident has been formally reported to the relevant authorities for necessary action
