Influencer ‘Kamal Kaur’ Found Dead in Car in Punjab; Cops Suspect Murder After Threats From Gangster
Social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, popularly known by her online name ‘Kamal Kaur Bhabhi’, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a parked car at Adesh Hospital in Bhucho, Bathinda, on Wednesday evening. Police suspect murder and are investigating potential links to past threats she received from an overseas-based gangster.
The body of the 30-year-old influencer from Ludhiana was discovered in a decomposed state in the rear seat of the car after hospital staff reported a foul smell from the abandoned vehicle. Kanchan, who had over 3.83 lakh followers on her verified Instagram account, had been out of contact with her family since June 9.
Superintendent of Police (City) Narinder Singh confirmed the identity of the deceased on Thursday and stated that the police were treating it as a case of murder. “The victim’s family has been informed. Preliminary information suggests she left Ludhiana on June 9 for a promotional event in Bathinda and subsequently lost contact with her family,” he said.
Investigators suspect Kanchan was killed elsewhere and her body was later dumped in the car. “Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it is currently not possible to determine the presence of any injury marks. The body has been sent to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital for post-mortem,” the SP added. Further legal action will be initiated based on the statement provided by her family.
The case has a sinister backdrop, as sources revealed that Kanchan had been previously targeted for her online content. In October last year, she reportedly received threats from Canada-based Khalistani extremist Arsh Dalla, who had allegedly warned her to stop posting videos that he deemed inappropriate or contained objectionable language.
Kanchan Kumari had a significant online presence and was also active on several other social media platforms. Her last Instagram post, a picture of herself, was uploaded three days ago. The discovery of her body has sent shockwaves through her large online following.
