‘Left People at God’s Mercy’: Priyanka Gandhi Slams Centre Over Pahalgam Attack

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the central government in Parliament on Tuesday, questioning the security and intelligence lapses that led to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. Accusing the government of abdicating its responsibility, she demanded to know who would be held accountable for the massacre that left 26 civilians dead.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi Vadra questioned the complete absence of security personnel in the Baisaran Valley, a popular tourist spot in Pahalgam, despite it being visited by thousands. “People went to Pahalgam trusting this government, and the government left them to the mercy of God,” she declared.
The Congress leader further targeted the government over what she termed a significant intelligence failure. “Was no government agency in the know that such a dastardly terror attack is going to happen and a plot is being hatched in Pakistan?” she asked, adding that the ruling party has avoided direct answers on how the attack took place.
Drawing a parallel with the UPA government’s response to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Gandhi Vadra highlighted a different standard of accountability. “When 26/11 happened during Dr Manmohan Singh Ji’s government, all the terrorists were killed at the same time, while one was caught and we hanged him. Maharashtra CM resigned, the Home Minister resigned because we were accountable to our people and our land,” she said.
Concluding her sharp critique, she questioned the current administration’s response. “It is a big failure of our government, intelligence agencies. Who will take responsibility, has anyone resigned?” she questioned.
