Lok Sabha Polls Were Rigged, We Have Proof: Rahul Gandhi’s Big Charge At Election Commision

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday made the explosive allegation that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were “rigged,” claiming that his party has gathered data and documents to prove its case. Speaking at the Congress party’s legal conference, Gandhi also declared that the Election Commission is “dead in India” and no longer functions as an independent body.
“The Lok Sabha election can be rigged and the 2024 Lok Sabha election was rigged,” Gandhi stated emphatically. “We are going to prove this, we have data now.” He offered a specific example, claiming that an examination of the voters’ list in one Lok Sabha constituency revealed that 1.5 lakh out of 6.5 lakh voters were “fake.” He asserted that the ruling BJP’s majority was dependent on this alleged fraud, saying, “Had they got 15–20 seats less, he (PM Modi) wouldn’t have become Prime Minister.”
Gandhi detailed how his suspicions about the electoral process have grown since 2014, citing surprising sweeping victories for the BJP in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. He said the turning point came after the Maharashtra elections, where the Congress performed well in the Lok Sabha polls but was “obliterated” in the Vidhan Sabha elections just four months later. “We started to look seriously for electoral malpractice,” he said. “We found that in Maharashtra, 1 crore new voters showed up between Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. The bulk of those votes go to the BJP. Now I say with absolutely no doubt that we have proof.”
This direct and frontal assault on the integrity of the Indian electoral system marks a significant escalation in the opposition’s criticism of both the government and the Election Commission. Gandhi’s claim of having concrete proof sets the stage for a major political and potentially legal confrontation over the conduct of the world’s largest democratic exercise.
