Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 12th consecutive Independence Day address from the Red Fort, made a series of major announcements, declaring that the first Indian-made semiconductor chips will hit the market by the end of this year and issuing a stern warning that India will no longer tolerate “nuclear threats” or “blackmail.” Addressing the nation on its 79th Independence Day, the Prime Minister combined a vision for a technologically self-reliant India with a message of unwavering national security resolve.

Hailing the “great festival of freedom” as a celebration of “140 crore resolutions,” PM Modi laid out his government’s key priorities, with a significant focus on the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission. “We are working in mission mode in the semiconductor sector, made-in-India chips will hit the markets by the end of this year,” he announced, a landmark declaration in India’s quest for technological sovereignty. He also emphasized the goal of making India self-reliant in energy, citing major initiatives in the solar, hydrogen, and nuclear sectors.

Alongside this developmental vision, the Prime Minister delivered some of his strongest remarks on national security. Referring to the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, he lauded the armed forces for punishing the “masters of terror beyond their imagination” during “Operation Sindoor.”

He revealed that his government gave the military a “free hand to respond to terrorists,” allowing them to decide the time and place of retaliation. “India has decided that it will not tolerate nuclear threats anymore, we won’t fall for any blackmail,” Modi asserted, adding, “Pakistan has lost its sleep after Operation Sindoor.”

The Prime Minister began his speech by paying tribute to the nation’s collective spirit and acknowledging the challenges posed by recent natural calamities. He emphasized that for the past 75 years, the Constitution has been the “guiding lighthouse” for the country.
